We Are Still Here!
Yesterday we watched the spectacle of millions of people waiting to be swept up to a place called Heaven, while the rest of us not judged good enough were to be "left behind" to face the music of a wrathful judgement by an angry God. Well, we are all still here and we always will be.
How could the religion named for the Christ believe that God would destroy his people for the sin of being human? He knows who we are! He loves us for who we are. How could a religion based on the New Covenant, which is what Jesus came to bring, believe in barbaric ideas from the Old Covenant, that was replaced by the New? How could we believe that a loving Father would murder all but a few hundred thousand of his children? Worse yet, how can we believe ministers who speak these lies and make millions of dollars doing it? Why does humanity seem to be attracted to false prophets who preach doom and gloom and hatred when we have as our example a man who was so evolved, so unified with God that He could suspend the laws of nature at will and do wondrous things? Why believe charlatans and posers when we have the genuine article who preached love, forgiveness, abundance, peace and unity with God?
If we are ever again tempted to believe an author or preacher or celebrity who tells us that "Judgement Day" or the Rapture is at hand, let's remember the words of the Master, Jesus The Christ: "you will not know the end, it will come as a thief in the night". I don't believe in "an end" but no matter what we have been promised that "we will not know".
The truly sad part of all of this is that gullible but sincere people spent all their retirement money, emptied their bank accounts, gave away possessions because they expected to be "sent to God"; when all the time God was within them! How must their children feel after having been told that yesterday was their last day? How must each of these people feel this Sunday morning as they wake up from their false prophet hangover?
This current outbreak of "End Time" hysteria is not an isolated instance. History is replete with this cycle of false prophesy, panic and then red faced shame. The year 999 ended with everyone in Christendom expecting to wake up the next morning in either heaven or hell. Hildegard von Bengen, a famous mystic and author of the time recounts what happened on that morning; a combination of sadness and relief. Again in the 14th century when Europe was beset by huge climate changes, war, famine and plague, the Judgement Day was expected at any time. The dawning of the 20th Century was forecast by the Jehovah Witnesses to be the End, they later revised this date 6 times but we are all still here.
Now we hear a minister telling us that May 21, 2011 is the end. But we are still here! I do not believe that, barring a fatal human decision that destroys our home here on Earth, that there will be an end until that time millions of years hence when our Sun goes Nova, by which time we will surely have found another home. God did not create us to destroy us. If the "end" comes it will be by our hand, not God's.
Humanity must grow up spiritually and shake off the 3rd Century view of life and God that we are still taught in most churches, mosques, temples around the planet. We cannot live our lives with the ideas, mores and wisdom of people who thought the Earth was the center of the Universe, that the Sun was drawn across the sky in a chariot and that the stars were the "windows of Heaven" where the angels kept watch over us. Let's stop being "Spiritual Children" and live as 21st Century humans.
We must awaken from our spiritual coma and at last understand that we are expressions of God and that for God to kill us en masse is to kill Himself. God and each of us are ONE, we are not highly evolved humans but spiritual beings having a human experience here on this planet. From Spirit we came and to Spirit we shall surely return. God is love, God is joy, God is abundance. God is Good personified. You have only to look at this perfectly magnificent home we have been given for our short sojourn and realize that we are loved beyond measure. We are cherished as a living expression of the Most High God.
Dear friends, God operates by Law, not caprice or passion or retribution. God returns to us just what we have projected forth from our mind, heart, hands and mouth. What we are is what our life becomes. No other action from God is necessary. The scales of Cosmic justice are balanced by God's Law and what is sown is always reaped. Not in destroying worlds or killing His creations but simply by retuning to the sender just what he or she sent out. The old expression that "when you make your bed, remember that you must lie in it" is exactly on the mark.
Law, not judgement or anger is what operates the Universe. Gravity keeps us here on this planet and it is always there. The oceans provide the rain and water we need to survive, we do not have to make these work, they work by natural law. Photosynthesis manufactures the oxygen we need to breathe, we do not need to know how to operate this law, it takes care of itself. So it is with Cosmic Justice. What is sown is returned and thus the bill is paid. No Day of Judgement or Rapture is necessary and none will occur.
Enjoy this day in the knowledge that it is part of the manifold gifts of our Creator. He did not create us to judge us but to live through us and to love us. Be at peace, God is in your heart and all is well!
